That guy who insisted on greasing his brake pads...
Had a customer at the co-op last month swear up and down that grease on his pads would stop the squeal. I told him it's a fire hazard, he called me a gatekeeper. Do you shut that down hard or just let them learn the hard way on their own bike?

Man oh man, I read an article just last week from a mechanic who said he sees this at least once a month. The grease just bakes onto the pads and rotors and turns into a slick, crusty mess. I've heard stories of guys getting a quarter mile down the road before the brakes just quit grabbing altogether. I'd probably offer to show them a quick YouTube video of someone testing greased pads against new ones, just so they can see the smoke and smell for themselves. But if they still want to try it after that, well, it's their bike and their hospital bill.

Hold up, did you actually see that video of the guy testing greased pads? @taylor_miller10 I had a buddy who thought he knew better than everyone else and greased his own pads on his old Honda. He made it maybe half a mile before his brakes started screaming and then just gave out completely. He had to coast into a parking lot and call his wife to bring the truck. The pads were melted to the rotors, had to replace the whole set.
