The day a broken chain on a gravel road taught me patience

I was out near the Blue Ridge Parkway last fall, about 8 miles from the truck, when my chain snapped in half. Ended up walking the bike to a farmhouse where a guy let me use his old chain tool and a spare link he had in his shed. Has anyone else had a random stranger save their ride like that?

Wait, have you noticed that's kinda how everything good works though? Like the best taco spots are always in some random strip mall, and the best mechanics work out of their garage. Seems like all the real pros don't need a fancy storefront, they just gotta know their stuff and treat people right. But then you get some big shop with all the latest tools and they'll charge you double and still mess it up. Makes me wonder if we're all just chasing the wrong things when it comes to finding quality help.

Love it when random folks step up like that.

And pay cash under the table so when that garage mechanic ruins your transmission you're left holding the bag with zero recourse. Big shops have overhead for a reason usually called insurance and accountability.
