Warning: stop reusing Shimano hydraulic hose barbs, I almost lost a brake on a customer's bike
I used to think a barb was a barb as long as it pressed in snug, until a guy's rear brake blew the hose off mid-ride and I had to eat the labor to redo it. The barb is a one-time crush fitting, so once it's set it never seats the same way twice, and now I keep a ziplock of fresh barbs at the bench that costs me maybe $30 a year. Anyone else got a shop rule they had to learn the hard way?
