Finally came around on The Expanse after hating the first 3 episodes
I kept seeing people rave about The Expanse but I bounced off the first 3 episodes hard. The politics and all the different factions felt like homework. My brother kept telling me to stick with it, and after episode 4 where the Canterbury gets destroyed, something clicked. The world building suddenly made sense and the characters stopped feeling like cardboard cutouts. Now I'm 30 episodes in and I can't believe I almost quit. Has anyone else nearly given up on a show before it grabbed you?

Dude same. I tried watching it twice and gave up both times before episode 4. The whole UN vs Mars vs Belters thing felt like I needed a glossary just to follow along. But once the Cant gets blown up and Miller shows up on Ceres everything just started clicking. Now I'm the guy telling everyone to push through those first few episodes because it becomes a completely different show.

Exactly how it went for me too. That first stretch is rough because you're dropped into this world with all these factions and no real anchor yet. Once the Cant goes up and you're following Miller and Holden separately, the whole thing just starts making sense. I tell people to give it three episodes and if they're still lost by then, maybe it's not for them. But usually they come back saying they're glad they stuck with it.

Nah I always told people to skip the first episodes but @logan236 is right, sticking through it changes everything.
