I finally gave up on that new fantasy show after 5 episodes

Spent like 15 hours on it and it just never got good, felt like a total waste. The plot was all over the place and the characters were boring. Anyone have a solid fantasy rec that actually hooks you fast?

Try the old Conan the Barbarian movie. It's pure swords and sorcery, zero filler.

Absolutely, that movie gets it right. It's just a guy with a sword in a weird world, no boring backstory. You can tell they spent all the money on the look and feel, not on explaining the magic. Modern fantasy always wants to make the world make sense, but that ruins the fun. Conan just lets you soak in the mood and the action. It's a perfect example of less talk, more rock.

Agree with @the_simon, my backstory is boring too.
