I swore I'd never watch a show about a chess prodigy

My friend in Chicago kept telling me to watch 'The Queen's Gambit' for months, but I thought it sounded boring. I finally gave in last week and ended up watching all seven episodes in one sitting. Has anyone else been totally wrong about a show they thought they'd hate?

Seriously, I read an article about how that show made chess cool again. I thought it would just be a bunch of quiet people staring at a board, but the story hooked me right away. What was the last show that surprised you?
