I was super skeptical about 'Dark' on Netflix but now I'm all in
My buddy kept pushing me to watch Dark for like 6 months. I thought it was just another confusing German show with too many characters. Finally gave in last Tuesday when I was stuck home with a cold. By episode 3 I was hooked hard. The way they weave together timelines from 1953, 1986, and 2019 is insane once you get the hang of it. I almost quit twice because of the subtitles but the payoff is real. Now I'm on season 2 and can't stop. Has anyone else had a show they almost skipped but ended up loving?

Oh man, that's exactly how I was with The Americans on FX. Kept hearing "spies in the 80s" and thought it'd be some dull period drama. Gave it three tries over two years before it clicked. Now I've watched the whole series four times. Dark is actually the only show that came close to that feeling for me. I had the same issue with the subtitles at first, felt like I was working a second job just to follow the plot. But once you accept that you're supposed to be a little lost early on, it becomes this amazing puzzle you get to solve. Season 2 really pays off all that setup, and the way characters are connected across time is smarter than anything I've seen. Your buddy was right to keep pushing, I owe my coworker a beer for the same thing with The Americans.

Dude, same here with Dark but also with Breaking Bad. I skipped that show for years because I thought "bald chemistry teacher making meth" sounded like a joke. Then I caught the first episode on a hotel TV and didn't sleep until I finished season 2. Dark's timeline stuff is next level though, I remember sitting there with a notebook trying to map out who was related to who. My brain hurt so bad but in a good way. Season 2 really is where it all starts clicking together and you're like "ohhhh that's why that random 1953 scene mattered.
