Just realized I watched over 400 episodes of one show and barely remember half of them
I started binging One Piece back in 2020 during the lockdown. Told myself I'd just watch a few arcs. Fast forward to last night and I checked my Crunchyroll history. 427 episodes in and I honestly can't tell you what happened in like half of them. I was just letting them play while I ate dinner or scrolled my phone. Feels like I wasted so much time but also I kinda enjoyed it lol. Anyone else zone out during long series and then realize you missed major plot points?

Wait, @carr.elliot, you're telling me I'm not supposed to treat anime like a podcast while I fold laundry? I guess my strategy of "I'll just absorb the vibes" isn't exactly how you're supposed to appreciate a masterpiece. Honestly though, I'm afraid if I pay too close attention I'll realize I missed something huge and have to start all over, so I'll just keep pretending I understood the whole thing.

Jumped right in with Naruto back in 2019 and I'm right there with you. I blasted through the Shippuden episodes like they were nothing but if you asked me to explain the whole Kaguya backstory I'd go blank after "it was some alien goddess thing." I feel like I should rewatch entire arcs just to actually pay attention but then I get distracted again and end up same spot. The worst is when you realize you missed something important and have to google it just to stay clued in on a meme or a fan theory. Still kinda fun to have all that content to zone out to though.

Disagree with you both completely. I think if you zone out during 200 episodes you weren't really watching the show, you were just letting white noise play. @bennett.nora you said you blast through Shippuden like nothing but that's not a flex, it's a sign you didn't actually absorb anything from one of the best anime storylines ever written. Watching a show means paying attention to the plot, the character development, the animation details. If you can't explain Kaguya's backstory then you didn't watch Naruto, you just had it on in the background. That's not enjoying a series, that's wasting 400 hours of your life. Maybe slow down and watch one episode at a time with your full attention.
