My dishwasher control board died mid-cycle last night and I spent an hour watching a repair video series instead of calling a repairman.
Ended up swapping the relay myself with a $3 part from the hardware store, now I'm curious how many other appliances I can fix with just YouTube and some basic tools - has anyone else gone down that rabbit hole?

Got into my dryer last month because it stopped heating. Watched a couple videos and ended up replacing the thermal fuse, cost me like eight bucks. Then I got curious about the washing machine because it had been making this weird grinding noise for months. Took the whole thing apart in my garage, found a sock wedged in the pump. Now my wife thinks I'm some kind of appliance wizard but really I just have good internet and too much free time.

dude @davis.adam I feel this so hard. I had the exact same thing happen with my fridge last year - ice maker quit working and I was ready to drop $300 on a repair guy. watched a youtube video where a guy just wiggled a wire and bam it worked again. now my wife hands me every broken thing around the house like I'm some kind of handyman savant but really I just got lucky once and now i have to keep up the act. feels good though right? like you actually fixed something.
