Overheard a guy at a coffee shop say he quit The Wire after 3 episodes
I was grabbing a latte near downtown Portland yesterday and this dude told his friend he stopped watching The Wire because it was "too slow." I get that the first few episodes build the world, but he missed out on probably the best character development in TV history. Has anyone else tried to convince a friend to stick with a show past a slow start and had it actually work?

Honestly, the "too slow" argument always gets me. Maybe he just isn't built for shows that actually make you think instead of spoon-feeding you everything.

Doesn't it feel like that same "too slow" complaint shows up everywhere now, not just in shows? Like people can't even wait for a reply text without getting antsy these days. @rodriguez.felix totally nailed it, slow doesn't mean bad, it just means paying attention.
