Rant: That one show everyone hyped that fell completely flat for me
I finally got around to watching "The Night Manager" after like three friends swore it was the best thing ever. They said it was a perfect spy thriller with Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, so I figured it was a sure thing. But man, I found the pacing so slow I almost fell asleep three times in the first two episodes. I pushed through the whole six episodes hoping it would get better, but I just felt let down. Did anyone else think it was overrated or did I miss something big?

Grittier and darker" is the last way I'd describe the 90s version, it was so cheesy it felt like they were winking at the camera the whole time. Maybe the old man nostalgia glasses are fogging up here.

Did you mean the old one from the 90s with Sean Bean?

Yeah the 90s one with Sean Bean was the one I meant, @abbyg60. That version had a grittier feel to it. The whole thing was darker, less polished than the newer adaptations. Sean Bean’s character actually had some real menace to him. You don’t get that same edge in the recent reboots.
