That friend who told me to skip season 3 of Parks and Rec was totally wrong about the whole show
A buddy from work kept saying the show doesn't get good until after season 2. I almost gave up during season 3 because it felt so slow. Then around episode 4 of season 3, something just clicked and I watched the rest in 5 days. Now I'm on season 5 and I can't believe I almost missed out on the whole thing. Has anyone else had a friend steer them wrong about when a show gets good?

Yeah definitely had a friend tell me The Wire doesn't get good until season 3 so I skipped straight there and was completely lost. Ended up having to go back and watch the first two seasons anyway.

Actually I read something in a TV guide once that said Parks and Rec season 1 was the real problem... that most people who skip it totally miss the setup for the characters. But your friend telling you to skip season 3 is wild because that's when the show really finds its footing with the Ben and Leslie stuff. I saw an article online that broke down how season 3 was supposed to be the make or break season for the whole series. The pacing in the first few episodes is definitely off but like you said, around episode 4 it just starts working. I think people get impatient and give bad advice without remembering how shows actually build their world.
