Oh man @emmag22 you got me there! I once had a whole family convinced their cat was psychic just because it always sat by the door right before they got home from work.

Oh man, "convinced their cat was psychic" is such a perfect example. It's amazing how animals pick up on patterns we don't even notice ourselves. Like, the cat probably figured out the sound of the car or the footsteps on the stairs way before the door opened, and they just associated that with sitting by the door for attention or a treat. I bet half the time our pets are just training us to think they're magic when they're really just really good at reading their environment. It makes you wonder how many 'hauntings' or 'weird coincidences' people swear by are actually just our dogs and cats being way more observant than we give them credit for.
