Unpopular opinion: I actually love rewatching old sitcoms more than starting new shows for binges!
Last night, I put on a new crime drama that all my friends are raving about, but I just couldn't get into it. After two episodes, I felt stressed and switched back to my favorite comfort sitcom from the 90s. It's like visiting old friends where I know every joke and storyline, so I can just unwind without thinking too hard. I think the pressure to keep up with new, complex plots takes away from the relaxing vibe of binge-watching. Sure, new shows are exciting, but for me, repeating familiar laughs is way more enjoyable. Maybe it's because my days are busy outside, but I crave simple, happy TV time. Does anyone else feel this way, or am I totally alone in this?

Nah, I actually find new stuff more relaxing sometimes.

Comfort sitcoms from the 90s... my dad would doze off during every rerun.

Actually, @susanm56, when your dad dozes off, it shows how those 90s sitcoms can be mind-numbing, not cozy. The laugh tracks are so fake and repetitive, they just grate on your nerves after a while. Plus, the plots are so predictable you can guess the punchlines from the first scene. I find myself more stressed trying to sit through them than relaxed.
