So I was messing around with a batch of 1084 steel yesterday, quenching in warm canola oil like usual, but I forgot to temper it right away. Left it overnight. The blade came out WAY harder and more brittle than expected, practically glass. Learned my lesson about not delaying that temper cycle.

Doubt it's that big a deal overnight.

Actually, humidity can wreck it fast.

Damn, I left a blade untempered for a week once and it snapped just looking at it.
