Who else hit 1000 railroad spikes and got bored?

I just finished my 1000th railroad spike knife last Tuesday. Number 500 was a big deal for me, but by 900 I started noticing I was rushing through the same design over and over. The milestone made me realize I'd been stuck in a rut for about 300 spikes. Has anyone else hit a number like that and had to shake up their whole approach to keep it interesting?

oh man, i feel this in my soul. after spike 500 i started making the same railroad track knife over and over and i swear my brain went on autopilot so hard i almost forgot to put the edge on one. i ended up switching to damascus just to feel something again, but now i'm 50 damascus blades deep and already eyeing titanium like a junkie. my hands just know the motions now, it's like i'm a zombie with a hammer.

Man, you nailed it. I hit that same wall after my 300th railroad spike knife, started forgetting heat treat steps and everything. Switched to cable damascus and now I'm stacking layers like some kind of obsessed madman, hands just move on their own...
