Wrapped my tong handles in old bike inner tube and the grip changed everything
Read on a forum somewhere that you can slice up a bike inner tube and slide it over tong reins for grip, so I gave it a shot on my 3/8 inch flat tongs. What I did not expect was how much less my forearm cramped after a 2 hour session at the anvil, since I was not squeezing so hard to keep the tongs from slipping. The rubber does get warm and a little gummy near the boss after a while, so I only wrapped the back half of the reins. Been running it for about 4 months now in my garage shop in Toledo and the wrap is still holding up. Anyone else tried this, or is there a better material that does not get tacky when it heats up?
