My phone died mid-kids-game, that blurry mess taught me a lesson

Coaching my son's soccer match last Saturday in Tacoma, I pulled out my phone to grab a shot and it shut off at 15% battery, so I got this dark, smeared photo of the goal that looks like a watercolor painting. Turns out the camera app drains way faster than I thought, so now I just keep it in airplane mode during games, has anyone else had their phone kill the battery right when the action starts?
