My sister's wedding photos from a winery in Napa came out blurry because the photographer shot at f/1.8 in the dark
I looked at the shots from my sister's wedding at a winery in Napa two weeks ago and half of them are soft. The guy shot wide open at f/1.8 the whole reception because the barn was dim, so only one person per frame is in focus. A kit lens stopped down to f/4 with a flash bounced off the ceiling would have nailed every single one. If your venue is dark, ask your photographer to stop down and use light, not a wide aperture. Anyone else get burned by a lens that's too fast for its own good?
Did you tell him to stop down or did you just find out after the fact? Fast glass doesn't fix bad light, it just moves the problem around. f/4 and a bounced flash would've killed it.
