Appreciation post: a rules clarification that fixed a 3-year grudge with my group
I played Terra Mystica with the same friends every month for 3 years, and I always thought the cult track scoring happened at the end of each round. Turns out I was reading the timing wrong - it only happens after specific round bonuses trigger it. A guy at my local shop in Portland spotted my confusion and showed me the exact paragraph I'd been skipping. Once we fixed it, our whole game pace changed and the competition got way more balanced. Has anyone else had a single rule misread change how they felt about a game?

Did your group push back at all when you tried to change how the cult scoring worked? I went through something similar with my group when we realized we had been playing Wingspan's end-of-round goals wrong for over a year. The worst part was that the guy who always won off those goals threw a fit at first, but after one game with the corrected rules he admitted it made the race more interesting for everyone. Sometimes people just get used to a bad habit and need a gentle nudge to try the real version.

Pretty sure bridges are still limited to one per round though. Check the rulebook again.

Took me too long to realize you could actually build multiple bridges in Terra Mystica (not just one per round). That one rule change opened up so many strategies and now I wonder how many games I lost because I thought bridges were more limited than they actually are. Did your group have any pushback when you brought up the rule change, or were they relieved to finally play it right? I'm guessing some people got real attached to that original imbalance.
