Finally got my board game group to try a co-op game after 6 months of nothing but competitive stuff
I've been running a weekly game night for my friends since last fall, and it's always been Catan or Ticket to Ride with people getting salty. Last week I brought out Forbidden Island on a whim and figured it'd flop hard. Everyone actually worked together and we won on the last turn before the island sank. Has anyone else had a group that just clicked with co-op after resisting it forever?

Honestly, that's a win right there. Took my group about a year to even consider anything cooperative after one guy kept losing at Settlers and threw a tantrum. We ended up playing Pandemic and it got super intense with everyone arguing over the best strategy, which was somehow way less toxic than the competitive stuff. Ngl, it was kind of a relief when we actually pulled it off and nobody was mad at each other. Now my friend who used to rage quit Catan actually requests co-op games first.
