Guy at a con last year tried to sell me his 'rare' game for $200

I was walking through the vendor hall at PAX Unplugged in Philly, just browsing, when this guy flags me over. He points to a scratched up copy of some 1990s Euro game I'd never heard of and says it's worth $200 because only 500 copies exist. I asked him if he had the rulebook or any of the missing pieces, and he just shrugged and said 'it's still rare.' Has anyone else run into sellers who think missing pieces don't matter just because it's old?

$200 for a game missing pieces and no rulebook. That is a complete joke. PAX Unplugged has some overpriced stuff but that takes the cake. I saw a guy at Origins last year trying to sell a copy of Dark Tower with the tower broken in half for $150. Kept saying 'it still works if you hold it together.' People just slap a high price on anything old and hope someone doesn't know better.

Read somewhere that there's a whole Facebook group dedicated to calling out these kinds of sellers at conventions. Makes you wonder how many people actually fall for it.
