I finally tried solo board gaming after 2 years of thinking it was just sad, and now I get it
So for the longest time I thought playing board games by yourself was kind of a bummer, like who plays Ticket to Ride alone, right? My wife works night shifts at the hospital three times a week so I was just sitting there bored with a shelf full of games. Back in March I finally cracked open Friday, that little solo deck builder I got in a trade, and played it maybe 14 times that first week. Then I grabbed a copy of Under Falling Skies for $28 at my local shop and holy crap it kicked my butt six games in a row before I finally won one. The thing that got me was how the puzzle in my head kept going after I packed it up, like I was thinking about dice placement at work the next day. Now my solo shelf is bigger than my group shelf and my wife thinks I have a problem lol. Anyone else start out thinking solo games were lame and then fall down the hole? What was the game that flipped it for you?
