I logged my 500th play last month and the number made me feel weird, not proud
I started tracking every play on BoardGameGeek back in 2019 mostly as a joke, and last month the counter rolled past 500. The weird part is that 312 of those plays are just one game that my Tuesday group in Sacramento keeps pulling off the shelf. I thought the milestone would feel like an accomplishment, but it mostly showed me how narrow my gaming has gotten. My shelf has 61 games and I have not touched 38 of them in over two years. Now I am trying to figure out if I should sell the dead weight or force myself to learn them. Anyone else hit a big play count and realize it was all the same five boxes?
312 plays of one game out of 500 is wild but also who cares lol. That just means your Tuesday group found something you all actually like, which is way better than dragging everyone through a new rules teach every week. I've got games I bought in 2020 still in shrink wrap and honestly they're fine sitting there. You don't owe your shelf anything. Sell the ones you know you'll never touch and keep the rest as options for when the mood hits. A high play count on a few games isn't a problem, it's just proof you know what you enjoy.
