My buddy said his group uses a chess timer for Catan and I laughed until I tried it
He set a 90 second limit per turn and the whole game took 45 minutes instead of 3 hours, now I'm wondering why no one told me about this sooner, has anyone else tried timers in their game nights?

Have you tried shorter timers like 60 seconds? We started at 90 too but felt it still dragged a bit. Now we do 60 seconds and a game of Catan usually wraps up in about 30 minutes. It makes everyone think faster and stop over analyzing every single trade. Really changed the whole vibe of game night for us.
