My game group in Cincinnati just imploded over a 3-hour rule argument
Last Friday, we were playing a new area control game and a player insisted a rule from a different game applied, refusing to check the book. It got so bad two people left and haven't answered texts since. How do you handle someone who just won't look up a rule?

Honestly we had a guy like that in our Toledo group. I just started keeping the rulebook open on my phone the whole game. When he'd argue, I'd read the exact line out loud before he could even finish. It sounds petty but after three times of being instantly proven wrong, he started checking the book himself. You gotta shut it down fast or it ruins the whole night.

Just pull out your phone and google it right there... show them the official answer before the argument even starts.

My buddy had a friend who would always fight about card game rules. He started keeping the official FAQ page bookmarked on his phone. Next time the guy tried to argue a point, my buddy just silently turned his screen around. The guy got real quiet, then just said "huh" and moved on. It completely changed the vibe for the rest of their game nights. Sometimes you just need that hard proof right in front of them.
