Showerthought: I was sorting my chits by color for 4 months and it was costing me every game
So I host a board game night every other Friday at my place in Reno, usually 6 players, and I always sorted all the little cardboard pieces by color into baggies before every session. Felt super organized, felt like a good host. Then two weeks ago my buddy Dave grabbed the bag for Catan and dumped it out, and I watched him pull the exact 5 cards he needed in about 10 seconds because he just dug through one big pile. Meanwhile I had been dumping out 7 baggies and wasting like 3 minutes per game doing setup, which adds up to almost 20 minutes across a session. I tested it the next week with Ticket to Ride and setup time dropped by half, nobody complained once. Now I just sort the obvious stuff and leave the rest in the box tray. Does anyone else bag everything or am I the only one who was making busywork for myself?
