That $60 'deluxe' expansion left my group staring at each other for an hour
Bought the big box campaign expansion last month, thought it would add depth, but the rules overwhelmed everyone and we spent the whole session just setting up. The physical components are nice but nobody wants to touch it again after that slog. Anyone else get burned by a hyped expansion that killed their game night?

The setup slog is rough, but our group loved the extra rules once we got going.

You said "once we got going," but that's kind of the problem. If a game takes a full hour just to set up, most casual groups aren't going to make it past that wall. A good expansion should add depth without making the base game feel like a chore.
