Tried using my Catan hex tiles as a mouse pad. Big mistake.

I was working from home last week and my cat knocked my actual mouse pad off the desk. Grabbed the closest flat thing I could find which was a hex tile from Catan. Figured it'd be fine for a quick email. Three hours later my wrist is killing me and I noticed the tile actually left a faint ring mark on my desk. Learned that those tiles are not even close to flat and the edges dig into your arm. Also learned I need a backup mouse pad. Has anyone else used weird stuff as a temporary desk accessory and regretted it?

Read somewhere that using a book as a monitor stand can warp the spine.

@rodriguez.felix People always focus on the book spine, but never think about the binding glue. Heat from a monitor sitting on a book can soften that glue over time, especially if your computer runs hot. Once that glue gets soft, pages start falling out way before the spine even gets a chance to warp. Had an old hardcover encyclopedia ruin itself that way in my college dorm, pages just started dropping out like leaves. So yeah, the spine issue is real but the glue failure is what actually kills the book first.
