Appreciation post: my 3/16 rod wrapped in a wet rag cut my bevel time in half on a 60 inch shell
Was burning through grinding discs and getting nowhere on a 60 inch drum last Tuesday at the shop, then an old hand named Dale told me to wet a rag and wrap the rod right above the stinger so the coating stays cool, and I finished the bevel in 2 hours instead of 4, has anyone else heard of this or is Dale just messing with the new guy?
Ha, my welding "skills" are so bad a wet rag wouldn't save me, it'd just add steam burns to the list. But yeah, Dale's not messing with you, keeping the rod cool like that is a real trick.
