Blew a gasket on a 40-year-old boiler, took 6 hours to find a replacement
I was swapping out a pressure relief valve on an old Cleaver-Brooks boiler last Tuesday and a gasket just disintegrated when I pulled it off. Figured I'd grab one from the supply house down the street, but they didn't stock that odd size anymore. Ended up calling three different shops across town before one had a matching gasket in their dusty back room. Has anyone else run into this with older models where parts are getting harder to track down?

Reminds me of the time I spent three hours driving around for a part that probably cost less than my lunch. Old boilers sure know how to keep you humble.

What was the part, a thermocouple or something even dumber like a gasket?
