Dropped $200 on a used slip roll for my shop and it paid itself off in two weeks

Picked up a beat up DiAcro slip roll from a closing fab shop in Gary, and after cleaning it up it bends 16 gauge like butter. Has anyone else scored good deals on old equipment that just works?

Bought a 1950s Webb brake from a scrapyard for $75. Rusted solid, needed new springs, but after a weekend with penetrating oil and a wire wheel it made perfect 90 degree bends. That same machine still does 90% of my shop work. Old stuff is just built different. Way heavier steel and less plastic junk to break.

$75 for a 1950s brake sounds overpriced when a $200 Harbor Freight one works fine, @elliot_johnson31.

Same here, picked up an old Southbend lathe from the '50s for pocket change and it still cuts like a dream after some cleanup. Nothing beats the heft of that old steel, right?
