Finally gave in and tried a magnetic angle finder after swearing by my old protractor

I’ve been using the same metal protractor for 15 years, but last week I borrowed a magnetic one from a guy named Dave on a job site. It saved me maybe 20 minutes on a tricky pipe layout, and I’m kicking myself for waiting this long. Anybody else have a tool they were dead-set against until they actually used it?

Wait, you actually used an old school protractor for 15 years on pipe layouts? That's absolutely insane to me. I spent a whole day fighting with one on a gas line job last year and my knuckles were bleeding by lunch. The magnetic ones just stick right where you need them and you don't have to hold it steady with one hand while trying to mark with the other. What kind of voodoo did you do to make that metal protractor work all that time without losing your mind?

Old tools make you better at your trade. Keeps you humble.

Yeah, that's just life though. Harder paths teach you more.
