Pro tip: tag your tube sheet before the fitter flips it, learned that one in Gary last Tuesday
Was on a small package boiler job in Hammond, Indiana last Tuesday and the fitter spun my tube sheet 90 degrees right as I was about to start rolling. I had already marked my reference points on the shell side with a soapstone, but he flipped it before I got my punch marks in, so my hole pattern was off and I had to ream two holes to make it fit. Cost me about 90 minutes and one tube that I had to cut out and re-roll. Now I tag every sheet with a paint pen and a piece of tape on the north edge before anybody else touches it. What do you guys use to mark orientation so nobody flips your work on you?
