Showerthought: that $60 "tube rolling" class at a trade show in Tulsa taught me nothing
Paid 60 bucks for a two hour session on rolling boiler tubes and the whole thing was a guy reading off a slideshow about tube expansion specs. He never even picked up a roller, just pointed at a chart on the wall. For that money I could've bought a decent set of gauges and learned more from the old timer at our shop who's been doing it 30 years. Has anyone found a hands-on class that's actually worth the fee, or should I just stick to learning on the job?
Reminds me of a $40 safety lunch I went to where the guy spent an hour on how to hold a clipboard. Old timer at your shop is worth ten of these slide readers.
