Spent $180 on a used weld gauge set at a pawn shop in Gary, saved my butt on a tube sheet job
I grabbed a used set of weld gauges off a pawn shop shelf in Gary last spring for $180, mostly because my old ones walked off a job site. Last week they caught a root gap that was running a full 1/16" fat on a boiler tube sheet, and the inspector would've failed the whole row if I'd eyeballed it like I usually do. Anyone else here swear by pawn shop tools, or do you just bite the bullet and buy new from the supply house?
