Spent my first 5 years fighting with a worn-out bevel gauge
Used to think getting a perfect 45 on a tank head was pure luck until a old-timer named Walt pointed out my gauge had a 2 degree swing from years of drops and rust. Swapped to a digital one last Tuesday and cut a flange fit in half the time without a single re-do. Anyone else waste years fighting bad tools before somebody finally called it out?

Walt's the real MVP for catching that swing... bet he's seen a hundred guys burn through hours the same way. Makes me wonder how many setups we've blamed on the metal when it was really the tool all along. Always check the witness marks on the old stuff before tossing it, they can tell you a lot about what's been happening...

Man, isn't that just the way it goes. You spend years fighting something and then one person points out the obvious and you feel like a fool. I swear half the headaches in life come from not checking your starting point. It's like trying to bake a cake with a broken oven thermometer and wondering why everything comes out wrong. Walt did you a solid.
