Stubborn about flux-core until I saw the difference on a 3/8 plate job

I always swore by stick for outdoor structural work, but last Tuesday I watched a guy run a bead with .045 dual shield that looked machined smooth compared to my spattery mess on the same joint. Has anyone else seen that kind of before-and-after clean up from switching wire?

Man my first flux core welds looked like a bird flew into a power line and exploded midair. Switched to dual shield on a parking structure railing and suddenly my beads actually looked like they were laid down by a human being instead of a spastic robot. That smooth wire feed alone shaved off like 20 minutes of grinding per joint, sold me instantly.
