That week in July at the Marathon refinery still sticks with me

Back in '03 we had a seven day turnaround where nothing went right. We were swapping out a feed preheat train and the crane broke down on day two. I remember Jim from Local 374 saying we'd be there till Christmas. We ended up working 84 hours that week and a rainstorm flooded the pit on Friday. Has anyone else had a job that just kept snowballing no matter what you did?

84 hours in a single week? Honestly that sounds like a nightmare, man. I can't believe you guys had to pull that kind of overtime with a crane down and a flood on top of it. I've had some rough turnarounds but nothing that cursed from start to finish. The rain flooding the pit just feels like the universe had it out for you that day.

Remember hauling bags of cement through ankle deep water at 3am.
