Disagreed with my book club about the 'unreliable narrator' in Gone Girl
Last Tuesday at our monthly meetup at Barnes & Noble, my friend Sarah said the whole book falls apart because Amy's narration is too crazy to believe. I told her that's exactly the point, the author wants you to feel uncomfortable and unsure. She got defensive and said a good mystery should have a clear truth at the end. I still think the messiness is what makes it stick with you, not a tidy solution. Has anyone else had a book club argument that changed how you saw the whole story?

Whoa @susan130 maybe she wasn't the narrator for a reason though?

Loved that argument, totally changed how I read "Fight Club" with my group last year.
