Just realized my book club subscription cost me $480 a year
I signed up for that monthly book delivery box thinking it would keep me reading more. Turns out I was just paying $40 a month for hardcovers I could get at the library for free. After 12 months I finally did the math and nearly choked on my coffee. The books were fine but the real cost was skipping my local used bookstore sales. Has anyone else dropped a subscription like this and found a cheaper way to feed your club's reading list?

Ugh, I did the exact same thing with a coffee subscription once, except I was paying for beans I could've gotten roasted way cheaper at the local shop. My trick now is to set a monthly library hold list for the club picks and just buy the one or two books everyone really raves about from the used store. It's way less shiny, but my wallet actually survives the year.
