My book club kept picking dense classics that nobody finished

I suggested we alternate one modern book for every classic, and our completion rate went from about 50% to nearly 90% in three months. Has your group found a good way to balance challenging picks with books people actually want to read?

Wait, your club actually finished 50% of the dense classics? That's way higher than I would've guessed.

Yeah, I used to think the same thing! But seeing how many people actually stuck with it totally changed my mind.

Honestly the number is so fake to me. I mean how do they even track that? It's probably people who just bought the book and said they would try. Actually reading every page of something like Ulysses is a whole different thing. Maybe it's just me but those stats always feel super padded.
