Our book club spent 40 minutes fighting about the ending of Gone Girl, so I started a 3 vote rule
We used to burn a whole meeting on one argument, so now we take a quick vote and move on if nobody flips after 3 minutes. Anyone else got a trick that keeps their group from turning one chapter into a two hour standoff?
We tried something like that but with a timer. Whoever brought the book picks a number between 1 and 10, then we all get that many minutes to argue, then it's done. Sounds dumb but it works, mostly because people stop saving up their hot takes for the last ten minutes.
