PSA: Don't spend $45 on a fancy book light that claims to be 'reading eye safe'
Bought a LuminoRead Pro last month and after three nights my eyes were bloodshot from the blue light, same as my $5 flashlight from the dollar bin - has anyone else gotten burned by these book gadget scams?

Man, I feel your pain. I had almost the exact same thing happen with a "reading light" I ordered off Amazon. It was supposed to be this super gentle amber glow but it was just a bright, harsh LED that felt like staring at a phone screen. What really helped me was just grabbing a cheap warm-toned clip-on light from a drugstore for like twelve bucks. The trick for me is to look for the actual color temperature in the specs, not the silly "eye safe" marketing. If it doesn't list a kelvin number between 2700 and 3000, I just skip it now. I also started putting a piece of orange tape over mine and it works way better than the fancy one. Don't let the hype fool you, the expensive ones are usually just the same cheap parts inside.

Man, I once spent thirty bucks on a "blue light blocking" lamp and it was basically just a purple lightbulb in a fancy box... I had to laugh at myself.
