That time a book club member tried to rewrite the ending of the novel
Last month at our meetup at the library, this guy named Mark kept interrupting to say the author got the ending wrong. He literally pulled out a notebook where he'd written an alternate final chapter. The whole room went quiet for like 10 seconds before someone said 'that's not how book clubs work.' It got me thinking - has anyone else had someone in their group try to basically rewrite the book instead of just discussing it? How do you handle that kind of pushback without killing the vibe?

Ha! Read about a guy who did that with Moby Dick. Real awkward.

Picked up a copy of "War and Peace" for a beach read once thinking I was being deep. Got through about 50 pages before a kid kicked sand all over it and someone's dog peed on the blanket next to me. Felt about as smart as a guy reading Moby Dick in a coffee shop full of people pretending to work.
