Best week I've had in the bindery in years

Last Tuesday I finally fixed that old rounding hammer that's been giving me trouble for months. I reshaped the face on a grinder and it's like a brand new tool now. Then on Thursday I finished a full rebind of a 1920s poetry book for a customer and the leather turned out perfect. It's rare that everything clicks like that in one week. Anyone else have a week where all your projects just came together?

My dad always said a tool that owes you nothing is worth more than a new one.

...and then that rounding hammer just started feeling right in your hand again, right? I've got an old finishing press that's been driving me nuts for six months and half the time I just go around it instead of fixing it. What made you finally decide to grind the hammer face down instead of buying a replacement? Was it a specific job that broke the camel's back or just general frustration?

Can't believe you put up with that hammer for months before fixing it.
