Cut my headband off after 3 years of struggling with it
I was trimming a leather-bound journal last Tuesday and realized I'd been cutting my headbands way too short, never letting them fan out properly under the spine lining. Finally saw a video of someone leaving them longer and letting them breathe... has anyone else had that forehead-slap moment with their finishing techniques?

Actually changed my mind on this one, always thought short was better.

Actually changed my mind on this one" - thats the part that got me. So you were on team short for how long before you saw the light? Like I gotta know, was it a single project that made you switch or did someone finally just walk over and show you what you were missing? I swear half the battle in this hobby is just being told the right way by someone who actually knows what theyre doing instead of guessing forever.

Wait... you were cutting them short intentionally? For three years? Dude, headbands need room to lay flat under the spine, not be pinched down like that. I had the same facepalm moment when someone showed me to leave them at least an inch past the boards before trimming. Felt like I'd been doing it wrong my whole life.
