Edge gilding on my latest project isn't holding up
I applied gold leaf to the pages of a handmade book, but it's flaking off. In my experience, this might be due to humidity, but I'm not sure. Your mileage may vary, so any tips would help.
Ugh, doesn't it just make you want to scream when the gold leaf starts flaking? Humidity can totally ruin a project like that, but have you checked if the surface was clean before applying? I heard that even a little oil from your hands can mess it up. What kind of glue did you use, because that might be part of it too? Seriously though, it's such a pain to fix once it's gone wrong.
