Guy at a craft fair asked me why I bother with traditional binding

I was set up at the Portland Craft Market last September, selling some leather journals I had sewn. A guy in his 40s walks up, picks one up, and says flat out, "why do you still do this by hand when a machine can do it in 5 minutes?" I told him I like the feel of it, the control over every stitch. He just shrugged and walked off, but it got me wondering - how many of you have gotten this kind of question from people who just don't get it?

Mark's got a point there. People don't always think before they park next to a truck. It's like they see an empty spot and just go for it without checking if they'll fit. Had a guy ding my old F-150's door at the grocery store last week. Left a little scratch right on the edge. Made me wish I parked way out in the back of the lot like usual.

Mark's got a point" - it's wild how people just don't bother appreciating the time something takes anymore.
