I learned the hard way about keeping bookcloth in a damp basement.
If you store your materials in a humid spot, mold can grow fast. I lost a whole roll of linen bookcloth because I didn't use a dehumidifier, lol.

Wait, a whole roll? That's genuinely painful to picture. I mean, linen isn't exactly cheap either, idk how you'd even start replacing that. Maybe it's just me, but keeping nice materials in a basement always feels like a gamble.

There's a common trend where people store pricey items in risky spots without much thought. Basements and attics often have moisture or pests that can destroy stuff over time. Your example with linen shows how we underestimate the cost of replacing quality materials. This happens with so many things, from furniture to old photos, because we assume storage spaces are safe. It's a pattern of avoidable loss that repeats in households everywhere.

Seriously, we avoid dealing with stored stuff because it means admitting we'll never actually use it again.
